"Fruity Goodness"

Starting each meal with fruit offers the carbohydrate fuel required for cellular function. Eat as much fruit as you like, until your sweet tooth is satisfied.

Feel free to make your entire lunch luscious fruit.

Here in the northeast, fruit variety can be slim in the winter time. We eat lots of bananas (40lbs/week for my family of 4), apples (3/4-1 peck/week), and then we add in berries, pineapple, melon, persimmons, mangoes, etc.

Mono-Meals:
Exactly like they sound...eating one type of fruit per meal!!!

Wrapping your mind around the idea of eating one type of food per meal can be tough. Here in the U.S. our Standard American Diet (SAD) embeds a variety of foods into our menu plan ideals.

Simplify your meals and your life. Gain boundless energy and vitality, let's start with raw lunch.

"More Smoothies?"

You've got choices for lunch! Keep it simple and sweet.

Smoothies are always a great choice. Quick and easy to make, quick and easy to clean up. Some folks have a blender at the office, others make smoothies at home and fill mason jars to bring with them on the go.

Blenders these days have single serve options with to-go cups. Step out of that SAD box and into healthy vitality.

  • Tomato-Basil Lunch Time Refresher: 3-4 medium tomatoes, handful fresh basil leaves, 1-2 stalks celery, 8-10 ice cubes. Place all ingredients in blender and pulse until ice is dissolved. Turn blender up to high and blend until smooth and frothy. Pour, and enjoy! Place flowers and a little umbrella in for fun. Rinse blender pitcher and top for ease of clean up.
  • Persimmon-Cinnamon-Rosemary Smoothie: 3 ripe, medium sized persimmons (I use hiyacha), a dash of raw cinnamon powder, 1-2 tsp. fresh rosemary leaves, 8-10 ice cubes. Place all ingredients in blender, pulse on low until ice cubes are dissolved. Turn blender to high and blend until smooth. Pour and enjoy. Rinse blender pitcher and top for ease of clean up.
  • Cucumber-Honeydew-Spinach Green Drink: 2 cucumbers, 1 honeydew melon, 2 Cups spinach, 6-8 ice cubes. Place all ingredients in blender. Pulse on low until ice is dissolved. Turn to high and blend until smooth. Pour and enjoy! Rinse blender pitcher and top for ease of clean up.

"What if I Don't Want Fruit?"

Fruit is a great way to start any meal. Why? At the risk of sounding like a broken record...it provides you with the carbohydrate fuel your body needs on the cellular level. Quickly digested when eaten alone, fruit quickly gets into the bloodstream and then into the cells.

With that said, it's understandable that we may want something other than fruit. If you can, save your veggie meals for dinner. No worries if it's veggies you crave, your choices are vast.

From cut up celery, carrots, cucumbers, to green salads, to raw sushi dishes, your palette and appetite will be satisfied.

"Veggie Wraps"

Pictured above, find cut up carrots, celery, cukes, sprouts, and pea shoots. Some nuts and seeds included along with a raw dressing featured on the top left. Look boring? Throw in some red pepper strips, tomatoes diced and sprinkled over these vegetables.

I had cut these veggies up for a gathering of several families. I had romaine leaves available, and folks put dressing on the leaves, layered up with the cut veggies, and rolled them for a delicious wrap alternative.

Choose the wrapper of your choice:

  • Romaine
  • Kale
  • Raw Nori Sheets
  • Napa Cabbage
